Janye Todd Helton Pointer Janye was born in 1940 in Perryton, Texas and her parents were Jack & Mary Todd. Her parents were in a horrible wreck in 1955 and her mother only lived 9 days. Her brother, Jimmie was a Junior in High School and she was a Freshman. Her father died in 1980. Janye spent all twelve of her school years in the Perryton school system and graduated with the class of 1958. She went to Texas Tech her freshman year. She married Billy Helton in 1959 and they finished college at Panhandle State University. Billy was a good football player and she still twirled her baton at the games. When they came back to Perryton, Billy farmed and she taught 2nd grade for two years before starting their family. She and Billy had two children, Tammy and Todd. Billy died from cancer in 1979 so at that time she had a 14 and 11 year old to raise. She did go back and taught Remedial Reading in Jr. High for one year and she decided there had to be a better way to make a living. In 1982 she got her real estate license and started working for Century 21 Golden Spread Realty. In 1985 she obtained her brokers license and bought the business which she owned and operated until she sold it in 2003. She worked there as an agent until April of 2010 when she retired. At this time she manages their rentals and that keeps her as busy as she wants to be in real estate. Janye’s daughter Tammy has 3 children and she and her husband live in Bedford, Texas. Tammy works for Bank of America and her husband Ryan works for Fannie Mae. Todd is the defensive coordinator for the football team at SWOSU in Weatherford, Ok. He played football there and stayed on as the coach. Todd has two daughters. Janye served on the Senior Citizens Board of Directors for two terms. (Now it’s Roy’s Turn). Roy found this striking beautiful tall brunette and he and Janye got married in 1986. Roy managed Security Insurance until he retired in 2003. Roy was the President of the Senior Citizens Board in 1996. He has two children, Suzanne and Michael. He has 5 grandchildren. So together they have 4 children and 10 grandchildren that keeps them busy and happy. Roy and Janye are members of the First United Methodist Church in Perryton. They are regular members of OCSCA ( Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Association) Thank you Janye & Roy for your support. Louise McLain 8/20/10 -
